Default I need to slow this EZ-GO ST400 down!

Yes, it's easy to speed them up, but I need this ST400 to drive slow and have enough torque to push a ball picker up a hill. I can slow 'er down to 10 mph, but it won't open the carb enough to climb a hill. It's a 2009 with a 400cc Kawasaki. Any help?

So you don't think I'm nuts..... I don't want the youngsters to joyride it off of some sweet jumps. Destroyed the frame on a Clubcar Turf2.

Is the drive belt the right length and width?

Yes. It has a cage on it already and was used as a range picker previously. It drives like it should, but I thought I would ask the BGW community before I buy a hi torque driven clutch and/or lower gears. I bought this cheap because it was leaking oil like crazy and it took me several hours of degreaser and pressure washing to figure out that the oil filter was loose. It runs and drives great, just need it to putt-putt AND go up a hill...

You could possibly make a spacer that would only let the drive clutch close enough to hold the belt in the lower portion of the " V ". That would allow the engine to have rpm, but would keep the cart in " low range ", so to speak.

After a pinch of snuff and some trial and error, I have it perfectly adjusted for my needs. I will post a pic of the adjustment in a bit. Thanks Doom and SM for the input. There's a reason I'm not EZ-GOJeff....

Highlighted in yellow is the throttle cable adjusted to the slowest/loosest setting. Highlighted in red is the governor/throttle ratio adjustment. It can be adjusted to balls out WOT or the exact opposite as pictured here. It accelerates normally to 10 mph and the governor kicks in to hold it there. It climbs a hill with plenty of power, so the clutches are fine too. Thanks again.

Great! A simple fix! Unfortunately simple fixes can be undone by little hands!!! Maybe a bit of " Loctite " on the adjustments!

I'll replace the cover and inspect it regularly. They can shag balls by hand for awhile if anyone tampers with it. I will delete this thread in a few days. Thanks...
