1991 EZGO Marathon Axle and Ring Gear Removal 2 stroke

Hello, My 1991 EZGO 2 stroke Golf Cart has stripped its ring gear. I have tried to tear it apart to get the ring gear out and can't because the axle will not come out of the tube. I have disconnected the the bolts that connect the ring gear, I have also taken out of the bearing caps. I also have the left side wheel, break drum, nut, SNAP RING removed. I looked at the service manual and it appears I need to get a pull hammer to hook up to the axle. Has anyone had any luck at doing this?

If you clamp some vicegrips on the axle nut you should be able tap the axle out. I don't think you'll need a slide hammer... just tap on the back side of the vicegrips.

Well when my cart stripped I was doing nothing "dumb" just driving along and I noticed a weird noise coming from the cart ( my cart is loud already due to a noisy clutch) and then went back to run it again and it just grinded and wouldn't move. Turns out my input shaft either bent or bearing went out and stripped the teeth on the input shaft all the way down to the ring gear, this happened on labor day weekend and still havn't been able to find a complete rear for my cart.

Also if one strips, probably all the gears are junk as well. you can get a gear set for big $ or find a parts cart..
