Default Smaller Drive Belt?

I have a 88' Marathon 2 stroke and Ive heard some guys talking about installing a smaller drive belt to gain some low end performance. If anyone has done this I would love to know the exact belt measurements or even a part number so I can do this to mine. I am always climbing and needing low end torque so anything that may help would be great.

I have a 1986 marathon that I just put the dayco 3004 belt on. I could definitely tell the difference in the lower end power but now the belt is squeaking. Anyone have any ideas why? thanks

Isnt the '88 belt a half inch longer than 87 and below? If so im thinking the hp3004 would be a full inch shorter . I have the hp3004 on my '83 and it is pretty tight already . Please correct me if im wrong, just trying to help. But the shorter belt did in fact help with torque and pulling.

Crap sorry for necro , didnt realize i was looking at a 2013 thread.
