85 ezgo gas turns over in gear with no key

i have a 85 ezgo gas and it turns over without key in and in gear if i put into neutral it will stop turning over could that be a solenoid problem or something else thanks for any input an also it ran fine for 2 days then it started doing that

Should be two wires going into the back of your key switch. Unplug them and see what happens. We'll go from there.

I will do on friday my cart is at the river and thanks and will post as soon as i get there on what happens

Ok, should have posted earlier that when you unplug the wires off the key it should crank at all. If it still cranks when you unplug the key your problem lies elsewhere. Also, at least on mine, it's entirely possible for the top connector to work it's way loose and fall down to touch the bottom one pretty much hotwiring the cart. Sort of unlikely but look for that as well. Start with the simple stuff first.
