Cool Gas 2 Stroke 1982 EZGO Marathon won't run

I have a 1982 EZGO Marathon 2 cycle that won't run. I pulled the carb and saw that it was't getting gas. I replaced the carb, fuel lines and fuel pump and now it's getting gas. I replaced the spark plug and spark plug wire and am getting spark. When I step on the gas the starter turns the engine but it won't start up. Any thoughts???

What is the compression reading? When you say it is getting gas, do you mean to the carb bowl, or to the spark plug?

How do check the compression? I see gas at the choke plate and the spark plug.

You need a compression tester. You can quickly see if it has any compression at all by removing the plug, and placing your thumb over the plug hole(not in the plug hole) while cranking the motor.

Is the plug extremely wet?

I pulled the plug, it pushes air out with good force. The plug is very wet

Good, that means you have some amount of compression.
When you replaced the carb, did you look at the reeds and see if they are closing correctly?
If they don't close, you will feel air being pushed back out of the carb intake.

Stupid question, what is a reed?

The reed cage holds the reeds. The cage is between the carb and the motor. It will be rectangular in shape.

There are no stupid questions except for those not asked.

How and when do they close? How to I check?

There was some fuel in the air filter hose (A decent amount). Does that mean it's pushing fuel out?

There shouldn't be any fuel in the intake hose.
The carb is attached to an intake manifold. The manifold is attached to the motor with 4 bolts. Use a 10mm wrench/socket to remove the 4 bolts and take the manifold off. Between the manifold and the cylinder is the reed cage. You should be able to pull it out of the cylinder. The reeds are the 2 stainless steel pieces. They act as a one-way valve for the fuel. They should be closed, or almost closed at rest. The movement of the piston makes them open and close. When the piston goes down, they open because it creates a vacuum. When the piston rises, they close.
