Question ST 350 Workhorse Need Serious Help

PLEASE HELP ME I AM GOING INSANE OVER THIS

Like the title says I need your help.

Here is what I know for sure:
350cc Robin
New Fuel Pump
Newly cleaned Carb
Fresh Fuel
New Plugs
180 psi compression on both cyl
Both clutches engage
Cart was running 8 months ago
Belt is less than year old

Here is my problem:

The cart will start and rev slightly but not enough to power it more than a slow crawl. I can not get this thing to rev up. I would like to know how many RPM's it should be maxing out at as I have a tach to use to see whats the deal but have not yet gotten a reading to see where I am starting.

Also it will not run at all with the air filter housing on it and it did 8 months ago

Junk the Robins and Go Diesel!!! That's all I got. What's the condition of the Air Filter? Do you get absolutely no reading on the tach, not even at idle? Is the linkage to your carb moving freely? I'm just taking an eduacated guess because I don't know much about Robins, but from what I've read on here it should max out around 4200rpm's.

Just for grins, take the main drive belt off while you are testing to keep the cart from taking off if it accidentally dropped in gear. With the key off, how far does the throttle plate move when you put the pedal to the floor ?

It does sound like it's choked out. Make sure choke is open and verify that throttle plate is opening. Perhaps the throttle cable from the governor to carb is pinched or seized?

The choke is open and the throttle plate is opening and closing properly .... I don't see a cable to the governor so a pic of what you are talking about that would be helpful

Any other thoughts fellas

If your throttle plate is open then don't worry about that cable. Have you tried spraying carb cleaner into the open carb and seeing if it will throttle up? That would definitely tell you if it is fuel starved or not. The next step would be pulling the valve cover to make sure your valves are working properly. Perhaps it's only trying to run on one cylinder, if there is a valve issue.

It took too long for e-z-go to move to Kawasaki. When a robin 350 fails, it usually goes boom and has an extra hole in the block. I hate them.

When i read this, sounded just like my trouble, which was a twin running on one cylinder.Check the color of your plugs, one may be clean and the other fouled or wet. If you have a timing light, start motor, clamp around each spark plug wire, this will tell if ignition coil is working. Sometimes they fail on 1/2 of the coil.

Or just unplug one plug wire at a time and check for changes. If it won't run at all with one wire off and runs the same with the other wire off, then you know which cylinder is failing. I believe mrgreen has verified spark to both plugs though.

I thought we have 180 psis in both cylinders. Of course, I can hardly believe that. Mine is running great at 160. So please re-check your compression.
