Default runing problems

i have an ez-go work horse and after runing for 3 mins the galf cart back fires i have adjusted the valves any ideas

Does it backfire 1 time or does it all the time?
when you let off the gas or give it gas?
Have you done anything like change the air, fuel filters?

i dont have an air filter i did replace the fuel filter and spark plugs and wires i also did the smaller belt

after you let off the gas and push it slowly and after you drive for 20 mins when you slow to a stop the cart has a hard time getin up to speed. and the cart is a four stroke

Kinda sounds like a throttle cable and/or governor not adjusted right. it could be cause of no air filter.
