Default marathon to txt swap...finally

long time reader/poster here. finally able to post some pictures of my almost finished project. started its life as a 1988 marathon 2 stroke. that has been converted to 4 stroke / that has also had a txt body swap done.
-The engine is a gx390 with a few of Geoffw's mods(6-deg timing key,hd valve springs, high flow air filter kit,gov removed, rejeted)and eventually i will have the head milled .50-.75, and will upgrade to a slide style carb.

-the axle is a ME29 off a 2004 txt gas, same with the shifter assembly.with 1 1/2inch spacers on the back wheels.
-The front cowl and dash are from a txt.
-the front suspension has a 4" block lift for now. (eventually will move up to a-arm when funds permit.)
-the rear suspension coilover shocks off a 2008 sportsman 700.
-the muffler is a kohler tractor muffler off amazon.
-radio,deep cycle marine battery, kenwood marine speakers.
-rear flip seat/bed

Hi Nate,

Could you possibly post some pictures of how you fabbed the rear txt seat to the marathon frame, as I'm a bit stumped as to how to fix it.

Cheers

Hi Nate,

Im having serious issues with my custom dash front and ive decided to chop the marathon front to fit a stock txt dash.

Could you please post some pics of the marathon front panels etc, to show me how much you had to cut off?

very very grateful, this the last thing on my project to complete before it can be sent for paint and finally get this bloody buggy finished!!

on the front if you look at how a txt frame is basically the whole txt dash sits on top of the metal shelf which is just straight across . its one of those things you have to trim a little test fit , trim a little test fit until its flush. i just trimmed straight across and fit it on . one other thing you'll have to trim underneath the cup holder to get it to sit flush .

and for the rear seat you i built a square frame under the back hatch that lifts off and cut out a notch to where it bolts to that frame wasn't to bad ill take some pictures later on

check some of my posts from a couple of years ago, I posted a bunch of detailed pics with measurements on the trimming needed to mount a TXT front end on a Marathon ... You really only have to slightly radius the front corners of the dash tray and cut the very front of the frame uprights at a slight angle and it's a drop-on, prob a half hour job at best

yep i was really considering doing the rear but the thought to my self ,50 $ for the rear and about another 150$ for a new seat . not really worth it am about to get rid of the lift blocks and do a txt front drop axle swap and leafs. see another a write up on it actually on another site cannot stand how rough the front end rides . question what year marathon did or do you have?
