Default question about a shorter belt

I posted a couple of questions about a 1992 lifted marathon i have.I lost the bottom end and recently ordered a 28 degree cam for it.The salesman didnt say but,do i need a new spring for it too or do i need a shorter belt for it?Just want to get the max out of it.Can i change anything in the primary to help on bottom end?...thanks for your help
