Default 79 ez-go quit, won't start

About 2 weeks ago it died but started up and run poorly but got it home. checked a few things (didn't see anything wrong) and it started and run good except for a day or two it would sound like it was fixing to die but catch right up. for past week and half it has run good. This morning it was going just fine and all of a sudden missed out, caught up went about 100 feet and died, can't get it to start. Getting good blue spark at plug. Pull off intake hose so I can choke with hand and see if getting gass, yes getting gass. Put finger in spark plug hole and seems like good compression.( I know that isn't accurate but in ball park especially since it was running). Where cylinder bolts to case I see a little seep, just wet, can,t feel blowing or sucking from there. I am getting fire, gas and compression, what the heck is wrong?

I just went back out and double checked everything. Can't find anything wrong except it won't run.

Been reading back posts. Sounds like it could have a plugged muffler. I can't believe that is it since it was running good then all of a sudden not running at all. I would think a plugged muffler you would started getting poor performance then get worse and worse finally to the point of not running. Any ones thoughts?

Not muffler, I just loosened exhaust pipe from muffler and cylinder, Plenty of room for pressure to escape. I checked compression and it is low. 50 LB. But again how could it be running good and all of a sudden not at all unless it just burned hole in piston or it cracked or something. When I said running good, it was, and had good power for a small engine. My wife and I together are about 220 and it run up a pretty good hill. Now it did slow down some but I think it was doing very good.

If you only have 50# compression i would say that is the problem, you need up around 90 to run, maybe it blew a crank seal to, sounds like time for a top end rebuild

More info engine removed
The cylinder base gasket on the bottom has been leaking in a large area, not a small place like I seen on top.
Question is would that make compression low? I wouldn't think so. I would think it would only effect the pressures and vacuum in crankcase. It apparently had enough pressure in crankcase because it would draw fuel and push it into combustion chamber. I could tell because spark plug would get wet. Seems to me if that gasket was bad enough then I couldn't have got fuel into combustion chamber. From what I can see through exhaust port the piston doesn't scratching or anything. While engine is out I'll replace gaskets and crankshaft seals and at least new rings if piston and cylinder looks good

More:
Went out and removed head, all looked good. Removed cylinder and it is scratched pretty good. 1 wrist pin keeper came partway out and was scraping cylinder. Piston scratched bad on that side I guess from part of the keeper and rings working out.
Anyway, recon all this happened at once? Can't see how it was running so good with it this way or mostly this way.

Got the new top overhaul kit along with crankshaft seals. Got it all finished up this morning. Drove it a couple miles maybe a little more and it runs good. I just can't understand how the thing was running so good and just quit the way it did. Oh well a couple hundred dollars plus and some work and it is running good again. No better than before because it was running good before.

I had one that ran fine and then died and would not start. Found I had 35#s compression. Did total rebuild and all is fine. Piston was very scored and rings stuck. These engines are finicky to say the least and can throw a sharpened mechanic into pulling hair so don't feel bad if you can't figure something out.
