Default Internal starter/Gen removal tool

I need to remove the armature on internal S/G . What size bolt and short rod do I need? I have read before and can't find it now. I have the size bold and small rod for removing clutch. I am wanting to replace crank seals.

use a 2 or 3 jaw puller hook the jaws on the fly wheel if you call it, tighten it up and smack the puller rod a few times. should pop off, if not tighten it up some more and smack it again, but be very careful you dont want to brake the flywheel because then you will be buying a new engine because parts are hard to find for that engine. this is what I did to mine and it worked. might not be the right way but its a way.

Mine is a 1979.
I have a manual and it only says to use the removal tool. It is around $40.00. I have read somewhere the the size bolt and a rod that can be used to remove it. I can't find that info. now. If your manual tells that I can use that info but don't need the whole manual.

yes mine does say the same thing. I did my crank seals on my 79 and i cannot remember what size bolt I used. I was at my shop with a plentiful supply of metric bolts so I didn't pay attention. sorry i'm not being much help. i'll see if I can find somthing
