gas filter
just got a 86 marathon and put new fuel lines and gas filter aftermarket (smaller than stock one) and seem like it never fills up but seem like it runs ok. this cart still have oil injection but am considering removing it. just was wondering
if the filter is to small it can not fill up should i put the stock larger one in or don't worry about it if it runs fine. does the stk one stay fuel of fuel is my question. thanks |

Re: gas filter
Welcome!! Its' normal to only see a 1/3 or so of the filter full. The Fuel-Pump isn't that powerful to where it will fill it and keep it full.Remove the oil-injection,Mix your fuel 1oz./gal.(128:1).It will guarantee you no problems, the oil-pumps are known to fail. Hope this helps.

Re: gas filter
Pachanga is right on the money, my 86 also has a small filter that is only 1/3 full and it runs like a demon. If you do decide to remove the oil pump assembly don't forget to cap the oil line that feeds the manifold, if you don't the engine will suck air and not run. The easiest way is to cut the plastic pipe about an inch from the bolt and use a screw of the right size and some mastic seal the pipe end. If you wanted a more elegant look you can remove the banjo bolt and replace it with a regular bolt remembering that it will be metric not imperial. ( From memory I think that it is 6mm)

Re: gas filter
The most that I have towed is a trailer with an ATV on board so maybe 500 lbs, but I have seen on this forum guys pulling boats and cars so I would say give it a go.
