Default My Marathon project.

I have posted a few questions about my 1988 Marathon that I recently acquired and thought I would post some pictures of it and hopefully add more as I fix it up. The previous owner added lights and a radio but I am going to rewire it all because the wiring that they did is very sloppy, it looks like they cut a lot of old cords to use as the wiring and it is not fastened neatly. I am wanting to fix it up to be an off road cart, nothing too extreme, I just want it to be able to go over rocks and climb hills easily. Other than the obvious lift kits and mud tires what are some other mods that would be good? I've seen the springs that you can put in the clutch to give it more power on take off, will this make a big enough difference to make it worth while? Do they make posi trac kits for these golf carts? Thank you guys for any help!

Is there anyway to make this thing 4x4 without changing out the stock engine? Could i use a front end and transfer case out of an old ATV? I'm addicted guys, my wife told me that all i talk about is golf carts ever since i found this forum!

UM, yeah....Its a sickness, tell your wife it could be worse....
mine is used to it. this is the best cart forum. people have put atv drivetrains under them. others have done diesels, street bike motors, snowmobile engines, and then there's the turbos and blowers... pick your poison.

Got the cart running this weekend. I found the fuel pump to be bad (I'm guessing this is why the previous owner removed the carburetor ) i strapped an old gas tank to the back to make it gravity fed just to get it running. After getting it running i couldn't get the cart to move and found the drive clutch to be rusted on the shaft. Now that i have sanded the shaft and got the car moving i notice that it takes a lot of rpms to get the cart to move and that it also has a hard time pulling hills... any suggestions? Maybe the driven clutch is stuck as well?

look at your belt to see what shape its in. then your clutches may need to come apart to polish them back up.
try to read up on that some. i have mine cleaned up, but they still need more work.
