Default How easy will your 2stroke marathon roll?

Sounds silly I know. I'm trying to Figure out if I have an internal rear end problem. It's a long story, but I feel that the rear end is limiting some speed and power. With belts off, in comparison to a 01 txt, the txt will roll very easily by one arm. My 88 is much harder to move. Just trying to get a comparison of someone else's before I start tearing things apart? Any help out there is appreciated.

Check your brakes, they may be dragging.Make sure the park brake isn't sticking.I know they roll a little harder than a transaxle cart, but not much harder. Hope this helps.

Why would it roll harder than a transaxle cart? There are two main gears in this rearend. There are several in the transaxle(friction). The gear ratio is lower in this rearend, so it should turn easier. I think 6 turns of the clutch gives 1 turn of the tire. My transaxle is 7 turns/1 tire revolution.

If you've ever tried to turn the output shaft of a 1:1 gearbox, it is pretty easy. Try turning the output shaft of a 100:1 gearbox. You can't do it. The higher the ratio, the harder it is to turn.

I use the terms higher/lower gear ratio here to make a point. I realise 6:1 is higher than 7:1, but we're talking about pushing the cart instead of driving it.

My 90 marathon rolls very easy with no belt on. Check rear end lube and brakes if not. Even could have bearing trouble.

Brakes are good, lube is good. It's the spicer rear end. Any one want to go remove there belt and give there marathon with a spicer a push?

I hate to ask, but if you get a chance could you remove your belt and see if you can push the cart with one hand on level ground. See how easy or hard it is.
