Go big block or robin 375???
So I have a 2000 txt with a 6" lift and 22" tires on it that I actually use for golf on a course lol. Anyway, the stock 295 motor has a kind of rattle in it and acts a little goofy from time to time with hesitation and not wanting to take off. Oh, I am running the shorter belt on a stock clutch. I have thought it over and decided I want to do something that won't cost a ton (around $1k), give me some more power, easy, will not be loud, and would prefer to keep the pedal start. What I am considering at the moment is either a Vegas Cars 440 kit or there is a company selling a 13hp 375cc Robin on ebay for $750. I like the 440 but I know they recommend a key start and I haven't really seen anyone post up about a quiet muffler for them. The 375 would possibly be the easiest since it's just a motor swap and everything should be exactly the same. Any thoughts, ideas, or input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Go big block or robin 375???
I just ordered my 440 from Vegas carts today. I was caught n the same dilemma as you and decided I would do a little extra fab work and go the clone route for the benefits of cheaper upgrades down the road. In the research I've done it seems the honda clone parts are a whole lot cheaper than the robin parts are, I mean let's face it you can buy a complete 20 hp clone for what you'd have in parts rebuilding the robin on your own. As far as the pedal start I will be utilizing mine with the new starter/generator bracket design Vegas carts has. I guess I will find out soon enough wether the time and work of swapping a different motor design was worth it though.

That's kinda the direction I am leaning towards. When you figure you get a new carb and ignition system the value of the clone starts to show itself, not to mention it is 20+hp which is plenty for anything I would ever want to do. I heard the clone swap is a pretty quick job and I will probably have the body off which will make it that much easier.
