Default Using Ausco Mechanical Disk Brake setup on a 1985 Marathon?

I am looking to improve stopping on my old cart. It is lifted 5" and has 10" wheels. Has anyone done this using the bolt on product, Ausco disc brake kit for golf carts, and is there any reason it won't work on a 1985 Gas Marathon?

"This is how it is advertised, "There is a new mechanical disk brake on the market. It is a drop in replacement for the stock drum brake. No drilling or modifications are necessary."

Thanks,

I swapped a yamaha G2,axle into my Marathon, the brake backing plates bolted on,so the parts will fit,but marathons dont have an axle flange, they use a 1-piece hub/drum.

That is what I thought. Anyone know of a front brake system. I figured I would rebuild me rear brakes and next put in a front system.

So EZGO changed the brake/axle set up after the Marathon?

Yep,actually during as well. The 87'-older,use a Dana S12,with the clutch mounted sideways,88'-up run front to back, like modern carts, but no reverse on a 2-stroke,then they have the transaxle for 4-strokes starting in 90'-94'.

Thanks for the info. I still don't get why it won't work? Here is a picture of the back of my brakes and here is the diagram of the entire part. Can't the replacement hub just replace the drum/hub combo?
I know I sometimes am slow?

The axle is splined, and the hub is part of the drum. All other carts have a flange on the axle that the studs are in,and then a drum slid over.I did see a post the other day for a set of hubs to retrofit the marathon axle to a standard hub.Look it up.

If he has splined hubs the Ausco kit will bolt on. The problem might be the brake cable connection? It looks slightly different than the TXT connection.

FYI,
I emailed Ausco Products and this is what they said,

"You will want our kit PK.2017 for standard suspension, or PK.2011 for lifted suspension. Although the description for these is “electric”, it fits 82-94 2 cycle gas vehicles as well."

That sounds good to me...
