Default 1981 marathon driven clutch

Just wondering if there was a good parts diagram for this clutch? Seems to me that there needs to be a washer or bearing behind the clutch ( where it slides on to the splines) mine seems to bolt up too far back and when it goes to open up my belt turns a bit ( twist in the clutch) and causes the belt to jump and slip.

Sounds like you have ramp and or button problems and the entire clutch may just be shot. The parts can be found to replace ramp and buttons but not real cheap and if you wanted to go with a high torque spring your out of luck as it seems if I remember they are not available for that yr. Have you taken the clutch apart for inspection?

I haven't taken it apart yet cause I don't really know what all parts are supposed to be there or not or if I'm missing parts.

Most driven clutches are from engine end a clip that holds the ramp on the larger clutch shaft and then spring and buttons connected to the back of the inboard shieve. If the inboard shieve is to close to the engine as you describe you may have a clip that has failed. Take the unit off and see what you have. The clutch should stay in one piece after you remove the bolt from outer center and slide off the shaft. If it comes apart while doing the removal you will know it is the clip. They are not real complicated so don't feel you will have tons of pieces to deal with.
