1973 Gx444 fuel line connections How do i connect
Hello I just bought a 1973 GX444 It is not running for various reasons but number one I had to remove the tank and carb and clean them thoroughly. I put in a new in line filter (just in case)..But the fuel lines connected to the fuel pump were all disconnected. Can someone please point me in the right direction how to reconnect these properly. This will allow me to get to the next step. Cant go anywhere4 without fuel!! Thanks First step.. Then More..

Re: 1973 Gx444 fuel line connections How do i connect
Never mind I got it. I Just kept screwing around till I figured it out. Don't look right but its running. Not worth a crap but it is running. Who knows when the last time this thing saw gas going through it and actually fired and drove. Anyone have a service manual for the 71 -75 GX444? I really need to check all my point gap settings and so forth. Any help on this would be awesome. Anyone?? Somebody own one of these Bad Boys? Does the Muffler really have about a 2" inlet and a 3/4 inch outlet? And its not necessarily connected to the tailpipe. It just sits over it..... kind of. Looks factory but it looks whacked out. Ok waiting for another owner of one of these to clarify some things to help me.. Thanks..

Welcome to BGW I would say yes the EXH is correct As the point gap DON'T really have an answer maybe try .022 but be aware the point gap does effect the timing SO it's a starting point if you like everything is good.

Re: 1973 Gx444 fuel line connections How do i connect
Thanks for the reply. So I wonder what's up with the exhaust. Doesn't that seem strange?? 2" in and 3/4" out.. weird and why doesn't the muffler connect to the tail pipe?? Seems odd to me. If anyone has one of the early 70's GX444 with the 174 cc engine please let me know I have lots of questions. Be nice to have a Manual. Btw if anyone needs a manual for 1976 and beyond with the 244cc engine I have a PDF manual I can share. Also if there is an easy way to do that on here let me know and I'll upload it or something. So any Help would be great. Thanks

Re: 1973 Gx444 fuel line connections How do i connect
Thank You Dave but this manual that you mention is for the Cart made from 1976 -1980 with the 244 cc engine. I have a cart made from 1971 through 1975 it has the 174 cc engine with a Mikuni carb it is marked E7. I wish I knew how to make it go better? Any idea on a manual? The actual manual you have suggested is a good reference for the cart mechanics and the chassis as it basically was unchanged but not the engine and carb it was the 1pg two cycle robin engine. I wish I could make it run better Thank You Here are a few pics of the motor carb, fuel pump.

Very good detection.until it really warms up I have to run it in that position if I open the choke completley it wont hardly even run at all. Does that mean anything?

Well I may have just answered my own questions. Compression only at 65 lbs
How do I know if its just seals or rings or what. And where can I get seals for this bad boy? I tried the carb cleaner trick and noticed no diference. Also no difference in speed either forward or reverse. Any ideas? |
