Reman Engines
Welp my engine is in need of major repair, broken rod which wiped out that piston, crank with heavy aluminum build up which may or may not be salvageable and piston bores that still have cross hatch and no damage but probably be best to bore.
With the price of rebuild kits which in my opinion are extremely high! I'm leaning on finding a reman engine and do a core exchange. Has anybody had experience with J&M carts? looks like they offer a reman for $600 wwwjandmgolfcarts.com/engines.htm |

Re: Reman Engines
I have been throwing that idea around but I don't want to spend thousands of dollars, lose my pedal start and stop and have a custom cart that may be harder to sell or service in the future.
Trying to keep this cheap! I would if I could find one a used rod and piston combo put a light hone on the cylinders and run it! Any body got a old rod and piston laying around??? :) I also want to be able to use this cart on the course, it will be getting lifted but I plan on using turf tires. |

Re: Reman Engines
The same starter generator can be used i believe. Last I heard, a clone swap was done for right around $650-$700... Which I think would not be too bad. Trust me, if you have a modded golf cart, you will NEVER have problems selling it. Especially on this site.

Re: Reman Engines
I looked at parts included in the vegas carts site. It does not include an engine.
I really would like to find a used rod piston combo |

Re: Reman Engines
It's around $1k for the clone kit but it's worth it if you have the budget especially if you put bigger tires on it. With that said, I understand trying to stay cheap on a project. Where are you located? I would find the closest EZGO dealer and see if they have anything laying around if you want used parts. I would personally just spend the $300 and get a rebuild kit over iffy used parts.
