Default 1989 EZGO 2 stroke bogging after oil disconnect

Guys I removed my oil tank this evening after recommendations here to disconnect the oil inject system. The cart was running pretty good before removal. After removing the tank and all associated lines ,hoses and pump, I capped the empty bolt hole in the intake. I started it after all this was done and it was kinda hard to start without feathering the choke. I immediatley shut it down and pulled the carb and took it apart and cleaned all jets. Upon reassembly it fired off but still very sluggish and unresponsive. Pulled the plug and it looked great so cleaned ,regapped and reinstalled. The only common thread through all this is that it has no air cleaner on it and didnt have when I traded for it. The previous owner is supposed to bring it by . For the life of me I cant figure out why it would run so smooth before all this was removed then run so poorly with it all disconnected ? Does it need the air filter to run right ? Im at a loss here and I dont get stumped easily. ?? Thanks for any help. Oh and I did mix oil with gas in the tank.

My 89 ran the same with/without the filter. There must be something you're missing. Did anything get knocked out of whack when you were working on it? Did you have the fuel lines apart from the tank to the pump?

Any chance some of the oil didn't mix right and being a little thick clog up the fuel filter or fuel pump? Seems far fetched, but it pays to check the stuff like the filter and pump before getting into potentially big dollar stuff.

could be an old fuel line sucking closed or when you capped the oil hole on the intake did you use a rubber washer or anything to seal the threads or just the bolt

Nope didnt have the fuel lines to the tank apart. Checked fuel pump and has good flow on through filter. Dumped oil directly in tank, shook whole cart to mix it. Im missing something yes. Cant figure yet what it is .

Acts like it has one hell of a vacuum leak . Yeah I sealed the bolt hole with a stainless bolt and thin washer. Should be no air leaked there.
