compression test inconsistancy
2001 Workhorse 350 Robin. Won't run due to lack of consistent and/or weak spark. Have been checking all the usual stuff like good ground, good wire connections, coil, pulsar, etc. Thought it would be wise to check compression while I was at it. This is where it gets weird. If I check it at full throttle I only get about 60 lbs. If I only let it pump once, it will jump to maybe 90 or 100. Checked it 2 or 3 times and all of a sudden it put out about 155 on both cyl's. Added a shot of oil and it made no difference and I was back to 60 lbs again. Valves are loose but am wondering if there is a possibility that the cam gear is loose and throwing the timing off intermittently. Anybody have any thoughts or experience with something similar? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks - Harv |
