Need 2pg "parts" motor
Does anybody have a 1985-1988 junk 2pg parts motor they want to get rid of? I'm rebuilding a 1986 and a 1988 ezgo marathon
And need piston pin (or wrist pin) spacers for the 86, also think I could use the crank case as the one on the 88... When I took it apart, I was actually able to separate in with my hands so I think there is some wear in the bearing housings and probably need to use another case for it. I have already bought both rebuild kits for the motors $650.00 just ready to get them back running Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Need 2pg "parts" motor
Not to be discouraging, but good luck. I JUST found one for my 3 Wheel roller (still in transit, actually) after two years of searching, seems a lot of folks just don't wanna get rid of them. Must mean they're good little motors.

Re: Need 2pg "parts" motor
use Loctite shaft and bearing mount for the case bearings that should help if they aren't totally wiped out. As for the spacers find an old "mom & pop" machine shop and have a couple spun out. Might be a little pricey but when all else fails...

Re: Need 2pg "parts" motor
We used to use the same Loc-tite on sled motors, when they kept taking case-seals out due to bearing-walk.It works, just make sure everything is 100% before assembly, since it won't come apart easily after it sets-up.For the case-halves mating-flanges,we used Yama-Bond,if sealer was required.I may be wrong, but I think 88' is a 3Pg motor.Hope this helps.

Yep, the best of the odd ball year models from what everybody says. It was supposed to be their hi pro 2pg. Like 93 said same motor just different carb and exhaust so all I need is crank case and wrist pin spacers from any mid 80's to 88 2pg

Re: Need 2pg "parts" motor
Just be sure to be extra careful with the muffler and exhaust pipe on that '88 - Pachanga isn't kidding, those mufflers are spendy as heck and as to the pipe, I looked for almost 2 years to find one ...
The '88 develops an extra 2HP, doesn't seem like a lot but it also revs a little higher so there really *is* a noticeable difference in those carts :) |
