Clicking noise in rear (wheel?)
Have a clicking noise coming out of a 2006 gas EZGO when riding down the street (forwards and backwards), it is a continuous click when driving. I have taken the wheel off an inspected what I can with the rear drivers side wheel off. Haven't taken off the hub to look at the brake shoes yet.
I got under the cart and rolled it in the garage with my handsand I can get it to click about a foot into rolling the cart forwards and backwards. I had my ear as close as I could to the wheel and it's for sure coming from the vacinity of the wheel, but couldn't exactly where. While I had the cart up on a jack I spun the wheel and heard a VERY faint clicking noise, I think it's the same but it was very hard to tell because it was so faint. I did it with the wheel off as well. It is much much worse when I was rolling it in the garage. Going to look at he brakes tomorrow, I didn't have a large enough bit to get the Nut off. Any suggestions on what to look for? (how to tell if the bearings or something is bad?) Not real mechanically inclined but found I can figure a lot out with the help of everyone here. thank you! |

Re: Clicking noise in rear (wheel?)
It's the wheel bearing... fixing to get a whole lot worse.
Of course, on my daily driver cart I let it go a year before one day the brearing screamed "today's the day you replace me" |

Re: Clicking noise in rear (wheel?)
I had a similar situation but mine was more of a creak in the rear drivers side tire. It ended up being my hub just needed to be tightened. Took it to the place that made the cart n they fixed it in 5 minutes and it hasn't made a noise since. Good luck with yours. If it is the wheel bearing it should only cost you around $50 with labor included.

Re: Clicking noise in rear (wheel?)
X2 on the wheel bearing. I had to replace some on a 82 I had given to me and it was no biggie. When you get it apart pay close attention to the splines on the hub as well. A stripped spline on the hub will cause some noise but then it will stop. You also stop riding when the noise stops but the noise does stop. That is kinda like a truck/car that someone brings to my shop with a bad noise and I say don't worry it will stop pretty soon or it will show itself pretty soon on what it really is, They fail to see the humor in that. Of course I would only say that to customers that I know and can joke with. Jim
