1993 TXT carb issue
Well, this is sort of a long question. First off, I've had my buggy for over a year now and it's always ran flawlessly. A few weeks ago the starter started to sound weak so I thought I would replace it before it stranded me in the woods. I replaced the starter and now the cart won't run. I bought new plugs and checked for spark and I'm getting spark. The compression is good in both cylinders. The valves are all working properly but there is no fuel getting to the plugs. I pull them out and they are bone dry. When I try pouring some gas in the cylinder itself it will fire but it spits and pops. I took the carb off and everything seems okay but the fuel bowl is filling up but no fuel is getting into the cylinders. What do you think could be causing it to do this. If you don't put fuel in the cylinders it will not run and just spits gas out of the carb (I took air cleaner off). Oh, I have the 295cc robin 4 stroke by the way. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance, Ryan |

Re: 1993 TXT carb issue
Welcome to the site. The first thing I would check to see if the fuel pump is working.

Re: 1993 TXT carb issue
Do you think it would get fuel in the bowl if the pump is bad? If yes, how do I check because it's a mechanical and not electric?
Thanks, Ryan |

Re: 1993 TXT carb issue
Take off the fuel hose at the carb that is coming from the fuel pump, hit the gas with the hose dis-connected, the gas should not be streaming but it should kinda pulsating out of the line. The fuel could be sitting there if the pump is bad, you are always going to have fuel in the bottom of your bowl.

Re: 1993 TXT carb issue
Then try cleaning out your jets, and make sure your float is working.

Re: 1993 TXT carb issue
I took off the carb earlier today and the float seems to be working. I'm not sure exactly how to check if it is working for sure but I took off the bowl and it hangs down. I pushed up on it and then it comes back down so I'm assuming its working correctly. How do I check to see if the jets are clogged?

Re: 1993 TXT carb issue
When pushing on it, try blowing through where the gas line hooks up to the carb. If you hear your air going through it,the float is working correctly.

Re: 1993 TXT carb issue
Okay, I'll try that tomorrow. If it is stuck, how would I free it up again?
