85 GAS EZGO is this a good starter cart?
I am looking at 1985 EZGO gas cart. It is not running, but the owner believes the fuel pump is bad. He is asking $500.00 as is. I have never owned a cart but would like to have fun working with my son modifying . I don’t know if you can still find parts (like a fuel pump) and upgrades and do not know if I should save my money and find something a little newer. The cart is good shape although has been sitting outside for almost a year. Thanks for your help.

Re: 85 GAS EZGO is this a good starter cart?
Does it have a canopy, good tires, overall do the wires in and by the engine look good or does it look rigged up? You can still find parts for the older EZGO's. People on here are great and could help you get it going I'm sure. Just ask any question and pics are always helpful and enjoyed. I would offer less for it(but of course I never give what they are asking), part of the fun of buying something is to see how much less you can get it for. Guess that's a guy thing lol.
Hope this helps. |

you might want to check on the fuel pump issue
as they dont go bad very often. its just a diaphram pump ( about $40) more than likely its something else. $500 seems kinda high for a 85 that dont run and your not SURE whats wrong just my 2cents, Dew |

JBDiNos, The canopy, tires, and wires all look to be in very good shape if not original.
DEWDIGGLER, I will do more to diagnose the problem. Is there a way to check the fuel pump? SCOTTYB, it is a 2 Stroke. Thanks for all of the feedback. I will try to post some photos this weekend. |

Re: 85 GAS EZGO is this a good starter cart?
take the sparkplug out and squirt some premixed gas into the sparkplug hole, hook up the jumper cables and see if it will start.I if it fires, unhook the fuel line at the carb.,hook up a hose to the carb. and find someway of gravity feeding the fuel to the carb.
Then you can tell if there is other problems or not. Raz BTW: A pump oilcan with gas in it works good for this,it is what I have used for years. |

Re: 85 GAS EZGO is this a good starter cart?
just pull the fuel line off the carb and turn the motor over and you'll
see if the gas is pumping thru the fuel pump. it wont be a steady stream, it will squirt on each revolution of the motor. if its not, it could be the filter or fuel line also. if it pumps then take the carb off and clean out the main jet very well as they clog easy. i would make sure it runs or find out why it dont before i hand em the money a running 85 2 stroker in good condition is DEFFINETLY worth $500 good luck, Dew |

This is great information and just what I needed. I was wondering if you can buy a lift kit for an 85 gas E-Z-GO and if so where.
Thanks |
