Default Help needed QUICK - 350 MCI versus Kawasaki 13hp - New cart (possibly)

I'm almost done with the 2006 Workhorse I am building (373cc MCI Engine, originally a 350) and I just got the opportunity to sell it today for a really REALLY nice profit, the only cart I have found to replace it is a 2012 MPT with the Kawi 13hp though ... The problem is that I have never worked with the Kawi motors, are they as fast or faster than the 350's? I'd be doing a similar build to the current cart, 28deg clutch, short belt, 23's (only the new one is definitely going to be "Long Travel" instead of Spindle lift) and eventually 8:1 gears - I just don't see a lot of performance stuff for the 13's out there yet, anybody w experience that can help me decide what to do? Thanks!

I have the 400 in my RXV and replaced the clutches with the new Team kit and it is a beast. Not the same sound as the Robbins but with 21 inch tires runs about 26 at 4k rpm. Not sure what my rear gear is though. I do like the external oil filter setup though. Much cleaner to change. Do buy the correct filter. I know people have said you can use such and such but the real filter cost me like $8. Not worth the difference to me to risk it. I have not seen a lot on performance upgrades but read somewhere with some tweaking can get close to 20 hp out of it.

Thanks, KG - The guy is head-over-heels for the cart and offered me enough to buy the new one (which only has 400hrs!) PLUS the long-travel kit and whatever tires and rims I want, plus have close to a grand left over - I hate to just "start over" but it's almost a no-brainer the way I see it ...

Would You happen to have a link or info on those clutches? Here at the Compound it's almost nothing BUT hills, so getting the low end boosted is always a plus, thanks!

Being it is a 2012 it may already have them but the link it here https://www.shopezgo.com/products/Ka...roduct_id=5866

Kawasaki/Team HD clutch upgrade PKG

Gain an additional 405 ft/lbs of torque to get a total of 1083ft/lbs from you Kawasaki powertrain! Upgrade from 678 ft/lbs of torque to 1083ft/lbs.

Package includes: Drive Clutch, High Torque driven clutch & Belt. Replaces 602000 & 602001 drive and driven clutch.

I do believe that is supposed to be inch pounds though.. Kinda doubt it has more torque than my F250 I had to replace mine because when I bought the cart the drive clutch had a ridge in it causing the belt to squeal. That and there are rumors the rear clutch had issues from day one on these carts. EZ-Go's answer was to come out with this kit that was priced about the same as just a replacement front clutch so no brainer..

OVER A THOUSAND FT/LBS OF TORQUE ?!?!?!

Sign me up, hahahahahahaha

Well I guess for $500 that's actually (like You said) a "no-brainer" - a 40% increase in torque would definitely support a set of 8:1 (or for that matter, 6:1) gears ... While we're chatting here I made a few calls, if worse comes to worse I found another 2006 like mine (from the same guy/course) with a blown motor, I could throw another 373 in it, do the long travel, etc etc and pocket even *more* cash, looks like I have some soul-searching to do rather quickly as the guy wants an answer RE buying mine by noon so he can come pick it up before he works tonight ...

It's a tough call - but I guess being able to tinker on another cart and end up with a better build AND some extra cash is far from the worst thing that could happen to a guy, LOL

EZ just had a 20% off sale with free shipping so you missed it

Like I said, the 2012 may already have the new Team clutches because it was around then when they started installing them. Decisions decisions

Well he's on his way ... I decided to take the hour drive and check out the '12 later tonight, it's a privately-owned cart (never seen a golf course) so depending on what I can finagle for a price, it just seems all-around like a lot less work and time to invest ...

Next big decision is likely to be Jakes vs Allsports on the lift, LOL

Speed might seem a little weak when you go to test drive that '12, the governor will be holding it way back. Once adjusted or eliminated it will be lots better. I run 25" tires on mine and can get it over 30 on flat and still able to spin the tires while tied to a tree.
