Default 2001 ez go 2 cylinder nightmare

I posted this in electric by accident. Two weeks ago I highered a shipper from uship.com to deliver my perfectly running lifted two cylinder 2001 cart to ga. The shipper disappeared with my cart. After multistage police reports etc, the cart showed up last night at midnight. For some reason they disconnected the wires to the battery. I have a ground strap about 10 gauge, a black about 10 gauge( which I presume is positive to battery, a small black that I think goes to negative, mthen a green and black about 12 gauge coming out of the same conduit. Is the green positive? If so I hooked it back up and motor will start but not go above idle. All carb linkage is connected and it has fuel. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. FYI does have lights

Ok, after more research, I think the cart is not running, just a fast turnover with starter. This morning I had what I believe to be the positive connected to negative on the battery. We tride to jump it, and nothing. I think I fried the battery which dropped to 8 volts under load. Replaced battery. The delivery guys put the positive on the negative side of battery, why,mi do not know. The fact I get no spark with plug Laying against bare metal makes me think this. I found one main fuse which looks ok, ugh!!

I'm not 100% sure but if I remember correctly when the + & - battery cables are installed backwards on the battery the starter will turn (backwards I think) but the engine will not fire.

If you pull the solenoid cover, find the heavy wire going to the solenoid and that goes to batt +. There should be a braided steel cable coming from the motor that will go to -. Green is + for the fuse box and I think the other black is - for the fuse box.

Thanks for the info, went out took of solenoid cover and jiggled wires. It roared to life. Grabbed wife and dog, dead, some moaning from solenoid. Will take off each wire , clean, lubricate and reinstall. If still no joy, replace solenoid unless some one has a better idea???

The wife and the dog were dead ?

jk

Grab a VOM and with cart in N and pedal pressed, check to see if there is voltage on the 2 small terminals of the solenoid. If so then with the VOM black on battery ground check the two large terminals. If voltage on both, you have a starter issue.

If no voltage on the 2 small, you have an activation circuit issue. Start checking connectors.
