Usually when the rods break they leave aluminum on the crank. The rod material is much softer than the crank. If it is aluminum on the crank I use muratic acid (used for swiming pool) at home Depot.

Find a glass container (meat loaf dish) & sit the crank on it so the journals are down in the dish. Fill with acid until journals are covered & let sit until bubbling stops. This should remove the aluminnum from the journal. Rince with water & then use WD40 to coat the crank. The acid can be put back in the jug & reused. The journal can be cleaned up with emery cloth & then checked for size.

Wear rubber gloves, safety visor & glasses when using acid.

Yeah I Was Hoping That Would Be The Case But It Left Grooves On The Journal. Machine Shop Buddy Took His Polish Sander To It And It Still Has The Grooves And Its The Same Size As The Other Journal Now Still Needs More. Was Hoping To Find A Undersized Rod But To No Avail. So Thanks Anyway. Troy

I have used journals with scratches without any problems in the past. Just make sure that nothing is raised on the journal. The specs are

Journal Std. 1.3767-1.3774 Limit 1.3757

Rod STD 1.3780-1.3786 Limit 1.3819

Rod to journal Std .0006-.0019 Max wear .0039

Radicalgolfcarts: Do you still have Cranks for $260? I need one for my 2004 TXT.

Here is my thread. I would have private messaged you but, I don't think I have a high enough post count to do that.

Hogs - can let you know in a few days. I have a 290 that threw a rod. Lots of aluminium. seems to have cleaned up real good with wire brush on drill and sand paper. I have put the bottom end back together with a new rod and plan on having it running by the weekend.
