Default Skid plate advice needed

Howdy all ..

A question on pros, cons of a skid plate.

My 94 Marathon gasser will be used mainly driving around pastures + cruising the gravel roads near our home. No hard-core "off-roading", climbing over logs & rocks, etc.

So is a skid plate something I should consider? I'm really interested in keeping tall grasses out of the engine bay & I'm not sure a skid plate would do that. An expanded metal shield of some kind sounds more like what I need .. not that I've ever seen one.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.
