Ezgo smoking and feels like the brakes are on

Son was riding the cart said it started smoking chugging and feels like the brakes are on, i checked it when I came home it will start in neutral but smokes white smoke up until now the cart had run great, it was a lifted rebuild from an authorized Ezgo dealer, oil level is right to full, and very clean, gas is full, and he said it acted like it was hot but I know it is air cooled I would appreciate any help into what I should should look for as I feel crippled with out my cart.

image.jpgOk I'm out in the shop and after reading a few threads on here I contacted my son to make sure he had not put in oil and overfilled it, when opening up the air cleaner the side that go in to the intake was full of oil (so we know where the smoke was coming from) now i did notice that the curved tube running from the air cleaner down to the engine was split where it connects to the air cleaner.

After thinking about the all the oil in the air cleaner and the dip stick still on the full mark i pulled a oil sample from the dip tube it is thin and smells of gas, I am going to drain the oil and refill it, where could the gas be coming from?

most likely from a hole in the diapram of your fuel pump. Drains thru your pulse hose to crankcase.

Thanks Jeff thats what I thought I have just returned from the parts store and will install the new pump in a little while these forums are awesome i will let you know

Be sure and clean your pulse line and breather line good ,,so any residue oil doesnt clog your new pump. There still may be residue in muffler causing smoke until it burns that clean. Hope that gets you back on road.

Thanks Jeff, it was the fuel pump after I bled the pump it started right up with no smoke ran good
