Default throttle on/off feel and what goes here

hi everyone. im new the forum and new to carts. i just picked up a, what im now finding out to be, 1999 ezgo gas TXT(?) with a robins engine model EH29C. Im trying to learn as much as i can by looking around the engine bay and reading on here.

first issue im noticing is, as i press down on the gas pedal it seems the cart is either full throttle or nothing at all(there is no slow cruising). is there anyway to make adjustments to fix this?

i found a small vacuum line(dummy me throw it away with other trash) about 3-4" long, just sitting on top of the motor and not sure where it goes. ive looked around and cant find anything that screams "that line belongs here". does anyone know if these motors even have the smaller (maybe 1/4 size) diameter vacuum hoses on them?

there is a nipple on the filter box that looks like there use to be a hose on it, but again if there was i have no clue where it goes.

if anyone can point me in the right direction i would greatly appreciate it.

thanks everyone

that nipple should have a hose that is shaped like a "Z" and goes down to the crankcase breather, directly under the carb on the front of the engine. Without it, all kinds of bad stuff can be sucked into the crankcase, so I'd get another on there ASAP.

Your throttle needs to be adjusted - it's likely too tight so that when you press the pedal, the carb is opening prior to the microswitch kicking in and turning the engine over (meaning you're starting at partial throttle so You have no low-end speed, it's BAM going or nothing). Adjust the cable at the rear differential aith the key off and while watching your throttle at the carb - you want to hear the slight "click" of the pedal microswitch *before* the carb arm moves at all.

The only little line like that on any of my carts would be the carb overflow tube - good idea to locate the nipple on the carb and reinstall it, if Your float sticks or ? while the engine is hot, having that tube could avoid a fire.

thanks for your help!! the second pic of a hose, is Z shaped. its connected at the bottom of the air box and to a port on the motor below the air box and carb(if i remember right). so it needs to be installed at the port on the motor and to the port at the top of the air box? if so, where/what goes in the bottom port?

really do appreciate your help

No prob - I just looked at both of my TXT's that have the older airbox like yours, neither have that fitting at the bottom of the airbox by the gas tank - perhaps that was someones' attempt at relocating the breather? Both of mine go from the top fitting to the crankcase - and from the looks of it, your hose is kinking because it wants to be where it belongs, not where it IS, LOL ...

Personally, I'd route the breather correctly and plug that bottom port/nipple - that's a new one for me :)

OH - and that carb drain line that you NEED to replace hooks into the carb right behind where the fuel line comes into it, on the passenger side of the carb. It runs down through a clip on the engine and exits towards the ground - again, it can help avoid a mess or even worse a fire if you're running hot and have a float issue, etc - don't want to be spitting fuel all over the place on a hot engine

so i pulled the air box off today, to see what i could see……….and i saw a screw in the top port. not sure why they did that. im guessing thats why they added the bottom port, so thats what i connected to the crank case

the rear (closer to the engine) ... route the overflow through the clip on the block (or not, just make sure You ziptie it to something so it doesn't flop into anything it shouldn't) - go long enough with the new overflow hose so that it exits at the base of the engine mount or just a smidge below it and You're all set !

I'd personally block the lower nipple on the airbox, pull the screw out of the top one and use it - that way you'll get the kink out of that breather hose (unless You straightened that out already)
