Re: 86 ez go gasser
I'm at work, and can't open up the wiring diagrams right now, so bear with me. I believe your solenoid problem is related to your spark problem. Start checking for power from the key switch, then the microswitch at the pedal. They are wired in a series, and then I believe the small connectors on the solenoid. There are two microswitches in the forward reverse switch. One is for the backup buzzer, and I believe the other is also hooked in series with the other switches.
The two wires coming out of your engine are red and blue. They are the pulsar wires (magnetic pickup). Resistance across them should be around 150 ohms. Also check each one to ground to make sure they aren't shorted. The pulsar very rarely goes bad. This is all from memory, so you will have to look at the diagram. Look in the HEI conversion thread for a quick one. The ignitor is a chrome box under the solenoid. |

Post #2 of this thread will give you a good visual of the three switches that are hooked in series. There is also a fuse in there.

Re: 86 ez go gasser
when i said jump the silonord i put jumper cable hot to the big post going to the gen
i put a jumper from the hot on the battery to one of those little tremanals on the front but it did nothing so thats how i know the silanoid is bad and so i taped on the top of it and the gen started turning and it would not stop turning till i unpluge the red wire that went to the micro switch at the pedal so im thinking it might be bad also and on the other question yes i had the pedal pressed i really dont like the deal with pressing the pedal to get the engine to run is there a way to wire it so you turn the key on press a starter button and the engine cranks and stays on till you turn the key off i do understand that when i put it in reverse i would have to turn the engine off the put it forward then crank it up again i am one of the worlds worst about leaving it on and someone might press the pedal and it take off with them |

Re: 86 ez go gasser
ok guys
i replaced the mico switches and im getting some spark to the spark plug wire but its not a very strong spark and its erratic i took the plug out put a little gas in the cylinder put the plug back it it and turned it over it would not hit so i sprayed some starting fluid in the carb turn it over still would not hit or even try to fire up my question what would make the spark weak and erratic the ground is good i have a good battery and a booster charger hooked up and running the plug is new the plug wire is new and the coil check out good and i even put another coil off a running golf cart on it with the same results a very weak spark do you think the ignitor is going bad i have no clue any one have any ideal on what i need to do next thanks for the help |

Re: 86 ez go gasser
Try removing the coil wire from the coil and cut 3/4 " off and see what that does????

Re: 86 ez go gasser
have You looked at the fuel-related side of things? Bad crank seals can prevent the cart from drawing through the carb (hence the no-go w starting fluid) and even dumping gas in the cylinder is generally not going to work as it will all wash down into the crankcase before You get the plug back in, hooked up, etc ...
The igniter generally works or doesn't on these carts - if You're getting a really weak spark You need to check, clean and redo all your ground points on the cart (an insanely common issue with the Marathons) |
