What electronic timer is this ?
Hi, I purchased a Cushman Truckster about a year and half ago. It ran fine but then it stopped working on me as I was driving it. When I went to look at the points, there weren’t any. Instead I found what looked like the remains of an electronic timer. See the pictures below. I have searched in vain for a replacement part but all that comes up are the points. The trickster’s model number is 898454-8820 and the engine # is 886835. I have been looking at aftermarket electronic timer adaptor for this truck but they all requires the use of the points for switching the current and as you can see on the picture most of the upper components are missing with the type of set up that I have.

I don't know if something like these would help you, or not. http://vkakarting.com/?p=829
Your wiring diagram is from 82-84. I thought in your other thread that yours was newer than that. What makes you suspect the ignition module, and what part do you plan on replacing? There isn't much more than a rotating magnet, and a magnetic pickup coil in there. |

Re: What electronic timer is this ?
The title says it is a 1988 Cushman truckster. The problem is when I search for the timer the above schematic is the only thing that comes up. When I purchased the truck it came with a box of spare parts including a set of points and condenser but that's not the motor has installed. Also the timer that it has on now has 3 wires coming out of it. But the point only has one of 2. I was hoping to find the same one the eengine has and just replace the broken pieces.

I have to go to work, so I don't have time to really study it. |

I guess my options are to try and get the original missing parts and try to revert it back to points or buy a kit and rewire it to make work with this engine. |

Re: What electronic timer is this ?
looks like a hall effect switch , like a dodge aries pickup coil which would replace points on later year distributors try the parts store and call it a pickup coil
