Default weird spark issue help needed

I acquired an 85 3 wheel marathon in really nice shape for $100. Figured I could get it running pretty easy and give to my dad to tool around the yard in. The owner, who seemed super nice and honest, said it just stopped at the end of his driveway and he didn't want to mess with it. I pulled the fuel line from the carb and it is pumping lots of gas. I pulled the plug and compression is 105psi. I checked the plug and here is the weird part... it has a bright spark but only when the solenoid first clicks and then again when you let of the pedal and it is about the same spot. Any ideas?

From what I have read, it is. The man gave me the original repair/maintenance book so I will double check.

Pull the connector going to the ignitor and make sure the connections are good. It's either the ignitor or the pulser, or a connection between the two.

Thanks. Are these parts accessible from outside or do I need to remove the fan shroud and fan to get to them?

The pulser is under the flywheel. The ignitor is mounted on the frame somewhere. Not sure where on that year cart. Follow the wire back from the ignition coil and it will lead you to the ignitor.

Thanks, found them in the shop book. I hope it is just the connections. Looked them up and those are two pricy little parts!

Tonight I switched out the ignitor for an ignition control module from a 77 nova. Rewired a couple things and it fired right up. I cant say it is running perfect but it is running. I may need to switch the coil out for an automotive grade one.
