Default 83 par car wireing

Hi guys, so working on some wiring on the golf cart and i noticed two wires separated. Looking at how they were connected i can't figure out what the part was so i can replace it. The two wires have connectors on both of them then they clip into either end a a small solid metal tube?? Any ideas on what this could be? Since it separated the cart wont do anything. And the two wires its connecting are the the two outside wires on the ignition switch.

Thanks, Jakob

Use this service manual as there is a wiring diagram in it that will apply to your cart:

It sounds like you are descibing a diode that is placed at the rear of the keyswitch but I am not sure what your issue is. If that diode is the issue you don't need it anyway as it only allows current to go the buzzer in reverse. It shouldn't stop the cart from working.

Can you post a pic or two?

thanks! here is a pic of the two wires with the adapters on them and they both were connected with a solid metal tube that these pieces hooked into on either end.

May want to be careful with the wiring diagram in this manual. The wiring layout is correct. Take note to the 'e' and 'b' connection points on the key switch. Wiring diagram has them reversed and this will smoke the switch.
