Question Jakes long travel kit not fitting

Tom at Dixie hooked me up with a Jakes long travel kit for my 2003 EZGO TXT and it looks like it should. I hope someone out there has installed one of these and can help.
On the "Front Assembly" after installing the spindels, and "loosely" mounting the steering extension to the stock steering column and steering box to the top frame, we can not attach the tie rod ends to the "spindels as shown".
It looks like the tie rod ends are at the wrong angle and too short. We made sure that the spindels were correct side up and on the correct side, and yes they are. I took all bolts out of the steering box and let it hang and then I could attach the tie rod ends to the spindel, but no matter how you turn the wheel or move the tires, the steering box holes will not line up with the top frame. I also removed everything again to make sure that nothing was going in backwards or upside down.
I will get pictures tomorrow when there is light and I am not at work. This is so frustrating.
Has anyone else had this problem?
What am I missing?
Thanks,
Bud

It's been a long day, and I know, this should be in the gas EZGO section. Can someone please move it? I think I need to take a break.

I tried to get a decent picture before leaving for work, but something went wrong and they are too dark I will try again later.
You may be able to see something?
Thanks,
Bud

Have you tried adjusting the tie rods out? Have you called Tom?

Yep, I adjusted the tie rods out, but they are still way above the spindels. I would have to bend something to make it attach.
I have not talked to Tom yet. I was hoping that I would find the answer here first.

Ok, it is now mounted. I talked to the owner of Jake's and he explained that the shocks that he is sending with the long travel will not work in the lowest setting. This setting would have made the cart higher off the ground. We moved the shocks to the middle as he suggested and everything fell into place. I just wish the instructions had explained this, it would have saved me 3 afternoons of grief .
Thanks,
Bud

take a picture of your shock tops so we can compare them to the ones that are on the old Jakes kit

I hope this is the pic you are looking for. More work to do, but it is 20 degrees out there this morning.
