Default First test Camping at Whisper'in Pines Ranch w/ Da Bull

Well we just got back from our mountain property about 25 miles south of Lake Tahoe.... in northern Nevada. Rainbow was at our SW corner and we looked but no pot of gold!

We call it Whisper'in Pines Ranch (WPR) It's only 5 acres but covered with Pinon Pines (Pinus edulis). We are getting ready for fencing on the east, west and south sides so 4 trees had to be dropped so far and 1 was a rotten blow down from a wind storm.

We limbed 4 of the trees and hauled away 1 ton on our neighbors GM flatbed truck (2 trips) to a green waste bio fuel plant. We left the largest tree (20") till next outing as it will take another load of greens by it self.... Also we had to work between rain bursts during the week. We keep limbs about 1.5-2" and larger for camp fires and just take off the greens. The trunks will get cut and split for our future homes fireplace.

Da Bull worked very good but I'm looking to buy better tires for the rear (need 8 ply) as I had to use the diff lock feature in a couple spots as they are turf savers for golf course work and not good out here in the soft pine loam soil.

We went up there on Sunday and worked till Thursday. It rained all week on and off so in the light rain we worked and in heavy we just covered up Da Bull by my office and shed..... Because it rained at night I never got to use my new LED lights...

My new Husky saw worked great and threw about 1/2 finger nail sized chips! I bought a Timberline chainsaw sharpener and used it before we started and this works so good.... If you have not used one go check out the website and see how easy they really are. I have used just a file for all my life but this is really fast & easy to use! They are proud of them but when you see the quality and how they work..... worth the price. I used it on both my saws... my old small Poulan and the Husky.... I used the Poulan till it started throwing small chunks then went to the Husky on the larger trees.

These are the chips you see fly'in past my legs!

Now the latest!

We just bought it in July and have been working on it.... Now today I get a call form the guy that we bought it from.... He still has the property next door (8 acres with home and out buildings) and he is selling it. He has people looking at his place and wanted to know if any of the other property next to him (ours) is for sale! Wow.... really don't want to sell but his place with Home and RV building w/ shop is $750K and if they are asking about ours.......! At one time our seller thought about building a smaller house on our 5 acs. and selling his because ours is nicer and more trees than his 8 acs....

Really have to think about this! We bought the 5 ac. for $120k cash but other property has sold for more per acre around us.... So we will not sell unless we could make some good $$ on this!! Dang! What do we want to do......!?

Yep the Bull worked out great..... Also it's nice to know someone else likes our little piece of pines.... But unless we can make a kill'in I do not want to sell. A 2 ac. lot with no trees sold for $141k but that really does not mean much with other cheaper stuff still on the market.

Here is the link to the place and neighbor we bought ours from

I have been watching many of the places we have looked at before we bought just to get a idea if we over paid but they are still on the market.... They have made no offer just asked if we would sell...?

I had to go back to the property for 2 days.... Since it rained while we where there I could not spray for fresh crop of weeds in the driveways. I also had to have my 12K generator delivered to Nevada since it was not C.A.R.B. legal they would not ship to a CA. address... (California Air Resources Board)
It was nice and sunny and about 85 this week so I sprayed 11 gallons of Roundup MAX on the drives. Saw a small heard of deer walk through the first night and 3 the 2nd night. Many Quail both days as well. One of the neighbors had a bear blast his chicken cage and had chicken for dinner! I found a local cart shop order my rear tires ITP Blackwater EVO's for a great price $110. ea.
