Adding a 2nd oil drain?
I purchased a 99 workhorse 800 with a 295cc engine. The cart is lifted 4 inches. I started to change the oil and found that the engine is at a angle, being high on the oil drain plug side. I drained the oil via the drain plug, then removed the oil filter screen. I saw that there was still more oil on the lower slanted side. I used a brake bleeder suction to pull out about a 1/4 quart of oil.
Now, is there a good area on low end of the tilted crankcase that one can drill and tap for a another oil drain plug or a pipe plug? I'm willing to split the case to clean out metal shavings. But, if there's not a good spot to drill the case, I won't even attempt this. My concern is that the low end will accumulate sludge if you can't drain that 1/4 quart. |

Re: Adding a 2nd oil drain?
I've always done those 295's by jacking up the passenger side and draining from the filter screen opening on the drivers side.

Re: Adding a 2nd oil drain?
On engines that are a pain to drain the oil because of stuff in the way or no room.
I just bought a vacuum pump setup. Makes the job so much easier to me, just like on a boat with an inboard engine |
