Default Will an EFI club car perform well at 8300 ft

Hi,
Iím new to the forum - from Duck Creek Village Itah.
The area is around 8300 ft in altitude.

Iíve gotten some mixed opinions on what is the best type of cart to buy.

The Ezgo dealer told me to get an electric cart for the height. They said to definitely not get a carb model.
The Club Car dealer told me to get an EFI gas cart, and recommended the club car over the Yamaha for climbing hills.

Iíll be using it to cruise the neighborhood, etc. there are some pretty good hills too.

I plan on doing a jakes long travel lift, in case that makes a difference.

What do you guys think? Will the efi model perform okay at this height?

I really appreciate any advice as I donít want to get the wrong machine.

Thanks! -Chris

Doesn’t have to be a club car - meant for this to be a general question if you guys think efi will work for the elevation and hills? I’m not here all the time so charging would be a bit of N issue too.

Dunno why they say not to get a carb model, you have to change the main jet in the carb for a smaller jet to match the elevation, but they'll still handle it. Power will be slightly less, but that will be true for any engine. If you go back and forth from high elevation to low (so probably below 5,000 in your case would be considered low) then you may have issues with it running lean at the lower elevation.

I'm sure an EFI cart would run fine.

Electric is fine but if you have really steep hills (probably do) then you'll end up needing to upgrade controller, motor, etc, to really be able to get the most out of it.

Thanks Fairtax.
I agree that it doesnít make a lot of sense that an efi cart would run fine but a carb one wouldnít.
Ultimately I decided if my 70cc atc could handle the height then a golf cart should be able to as well.
I picked up an efi club cart and have been very impressed with how it has handled the height and hills.
