Axle in 3-wheeled Cushman?
Hello,
I'm building a "pickup truck" go-kart for my son, to be electric powered. To make life easy for me, I have purchased a well used, poorly running 3-wheel Cushman for little money, with the hopes that the rear axle is in good enough shape to either use as-is or rebuild. I won't be picking this up for about a week so and since the seller had absolutely no idea, curiosity is getting the best of me and I thought maybe I could ask you folks. I'm thinking the rear axle would be much like other gas-powered golf carts, where there's a differential either centered or off to one side, a pair of axle tubes, and on the front of the pinion gearshaft there's a pulley, clutch, or gear? Much like what I'd find underneath an older rear-wheel-drive car, just smaller in size and capability. Is that a correct guess on my part? Or should I be expecting something very different? Thanks in advance, and sorry for the lack of information. The seller was able to count the wheels to "three" and unfortunately that was about it. Regards, Frederic |
