Default my cushman buggy

Thought I post a pic of my buggy. So far it has proved to be really handy around the farm. I believe it has an 18 hp OMC engine. It has a 3 speed tranny, 2 speed rear axle.

And a hydraulic dump bed.

I do need to modify the front axle. It needs a little more ground clearance.

I tried to buy one that could be a twin to yours. A landscape company owns it and won't sell. He bragged about its durability and dependability. Good luck with it!

We finally got around to working on the buggy. Removed the old front suspension, which was nothing more than a couple of rubber blocks and small shocks. The rubber blocks sorta looked like an engine mount for a car. Bought a couple of light duty trailer springs and mounted the axle to them. It gives the front tires the much needed clearance.

Carzy...what you have there is a tank! That thing will out work you if you aren't careful. LOL. That three speed tranny has a pto on the side of it to operate the hydraulic pump for the dump bed. If you really wanted to, you could tap into that hydraulic power for other uses. Like a lift for garden attachments (plow, disk, etc) or a grading plow for the front, that would come in handy for pushing the snow out of the driveway. Add a cab with some heat and you would be set for cold weather work. Nice find. Keep us posted on what changes you make to it.

And before I forget...Welcome to the fun house, AKA-- BGW.

Yep, it is built like a tank. Tread plate floor in the bed and all. It weighs in just about 1300# and has a 1000# payload rating.

My youngest boy (15yr old) has been talking about putting a push blade on the front, with hyd. controls to raise, lower and angle the blade.

I wish I had one of those! That thing could rip my cushman in half! I believe that John deere 140 lawn tractors had hydraulic plows and I see them all the time on Craigslist for around $500. That would be perfect for what you need. Keep the pics coming!

Smart boy. Sounds like he doesn't work hard he works smart! Make things work for you. I recently was given, and gotten rid of, a Craftsman 48 inch grading plow that would have worked on the front of that thing like a charm with a little metal work for lift mechanisim. Look into a double action ram for the angle and a single action for the lift.

Where you located?

I'm in S.W. Missouri.

lol, indeed a smart boy. He is a gear head, and is either fixing, building or brainstorming. He has many projects himself, from several garden tractors to '67 Mustang.

Don't underestimate your cushman, most I have saw are way overbuilt.

I saw a blade on CL that I was tempted to buy. It had the hyd cylinders on it. I passed on it for now. But I'm sure some day I will have one on it.
