Exclamation Rearend/driveshaft?

Hello everyone, im new here and thought i would start off asking this. I am going to buy a Yamaha 650 Maxim motorcycle motor for $20 that has a drive shaft. I would like to throw it into an older golf cart. But, before i do any of this, i need to know if the drive shaft of the motorcycle tranny would fit into a gas golfcart rear end. I dont want to waste my money and then find out it wont work. If not, How could i put this motor into a golf car. All help would be much appreciated. Thanks
Jordan
P.S. Im only 15 and need the help!

The only cart axle that would come close to working in that setup would be the Ford 8" axles used in the older Taylor-Dunn carts.. None of the current axles used by the "Big 3" (Club car, EZGO, Yamaha) will be easily adapted to a shaft driven cycle engine..

Intresting bubbasgarage, i have the taylor dunn axle that cc-john is talking about, and i need a regular rear axle from one of the "big 3 golf carts".

Where are you located?

Just save yourself some $ and some headaches
This cart will never run with the knowledge and $ of a 15 yr old , ... sorry but it is true... It would take an very experienced fabricator with $ to make this work and it would be a suicide machine if it ran, in my humble opinion ... I hope this helps

Hey, i get what you are saying about money and knowledge. But i do know a good fabricator in town and he would be able to give me some tips. The only real problem is how i am going to hook the motor up to the rear end. So if anyone has any ideas, i would still like to hear them. No matter what im going to buy the motor cause its a great buy. But if i cant put it in a cart, im gonna see if i could put it in a lawn mower Thanks

Agree with scotty b. in addition an electric cart will make that conversion even harder.

Look for another project! If you think $20.00 for a motor is a waste of cash, you have NO idea of what you are stepping in to here ($$$$$$).

I'm sure the "town fabricator" won't work for free, either...
