What would you pay for a 2001 truckster?
There is a cushman turf truckster for sale locally. Says it is a 2001, 3 wheel with dump. model 898543C. Can't find any manuals or information on google. Wonder if it is a good purchase at $1400. I want to use it on my property which has some steep inclines, but it would mostly stay on an ungroomed dirt road. Could it handle that? What is the C for?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cushman
http://www.cushmanmotorco.com/index....iesel-vehicles Does it look like the second photo? Looks like they were made through 2002. We had a very old one that I put about 12K miles on going door to door county wide in a state rep race 20 years ago. It was OK on dirt roads but hills and dewey grass did not work out so well. They have a huge payload rating. Ours was a three speed manual with shifting at left side of bench seat. It had an enclosed cab with heater and it was licenced as a motorcycle. I bought a tow bar from Cushman and in about 3 minutes it was ready to tow anywhere at highway speeds. If it is anything like ours that was 30 years older I would pay $1400 for it today. OEM it would run 40 MPH which is fast enought for a tricycle. |

Thanks for the reply
It seems that it is similar to the one you had. 18HP Kohler CH18 engine. I don't know about the bumpy dirt road issue and how it will handle. Being sold on a flat sidewalk! |

Re: What would you pay for a 2001 truckster?
Ours was fine on rough roads and firm dirt. They have small tires and weight a ton and are close to the ground. They will go off road but are not ATV's for sure. They are not hunting vehicles that can blaze trails but are work trucks for confined spaces like in plants, warehouses and other hard surfaces. On unlevel ground they will hit the slides on the front that keeps it upright if you cut it hard. Of road they will make contact with the ground but it was not an issue nor did I ever feel unsafe but I did wear the seat belt.
Get at Work Horse like machine if you are going to be off road much. If it was not for the wife thinking I have too many toys I would get another one. They make van models too and I would like one to put the home back up generator in to make it mobile and to protect it from the weather. Think of a truckster as a small truck and not an ATV type machine. Do you need a small truck or ATV/mule machine? |
