60's cushman truckster wico magneto info
Ok finally into the motor part of my project and....I'm lost! Now I've put two old ford coils w/crysler resister on it and it makes noise (fires but runs way rough). Now this is by just running 2 hot leads from 12 volt battery threw resister(crysler has a two in one setup) to coils and both coils to timer w/ timer mounts to battery ground. This motor has no alternater but a wico mag?(two yellow wires from picup behind flywheel) The wire schamatic(photo) says it has a rectifyer? No such animal located anywhere, mater of fact wiring to it was dead ended. Any info on how to make this run with the mag out there? Also how do I time this thing correctly?18 hp omc moter.

Now I know a rectifier changes ac voltage to dc...apparently all altenators do this internally now.Still lost on what to do except run a altenater on motor...any help? Also bypast fuel pump (gravity feed) and motor purrs at idle but stumbles on accelleration and winds up slow as hell...accellerator pump or lack of fuel pressure?Yep still have timing and carb issues...any advice on where to start?

Re: 60's cushman truckster wico magneto info
Jinx, your engine is old enough it should have the charging coils behind the flywheel. You should have 2 yellow wires coming from blower housing located around/near the left plug wire. Both yellows produce AC voltage. You will need a rectifier to convert AC to DC. The original Cushman rectifier did convert but it did not regulated. Due to this, a battery overcharge can occur. This is why I have true voltages regulator that converts AC to DC and regulates voltage. These have a simple 3 wire hook up and are nice looking finned aluminum..Google Cushman 735 voltage regulator or look at my site...they are there as well

here's maybe some help for you cushman guy's with a step threw scooter or single cylinder motor with wico 12 volt mag that has weak spark. http://www.hobbytech.com/ElecIgnition.htm You will need some electrical knowledge. I have my unit all figured out now. Just figured I'd share something I found researching mine.here's photo's of what I did to mine.Just waiting on rectifier/regulater.
