not charging in forward
I have a 1973 harley davidson, the problem is that it only charges when it is running in reverse. it will not charge when it is going forward. can someone tell me how to fix this problem. thanks in advance for any info.

Barring a pinched wire missing ground or wiring error, I would suspect the regulator. I have never ran into this problem before. I would go through the starter / generator tests in the service manual. Go through the tests carefully and I think you will find the problem.

Craig is probably right! Strange things happen when a ground is missing.
