Pulling power for 2000 pounds

Hi everyone,

Sort-of new on here, so hello!

I run horse shows around my state. We have to take our trucks and squeeze them through all these small areas to get to the rings. We then have to load all of the jumps on trailers and take them to our semi 300 yards away.

Is there a golf cart that could pull these 2000 pound trailers? Money is not too much of an issue...would like to keep it under 12k though.

Sub-question-

How high of a lift kit is safe to put on the golf cart that will be towing this trailer? I would replace all the suspension and springs to heavy duty ones.

You need more than a golf cart! Try a Mule, Kubota, or one of those Sackahockys!

I live on a hill that's about 5% grade. I have used my yamaha G2 gas golf cart to pull a 22' big tex trailer with our big block powered 3/4ton suburban up the hill about 100ft to back it into the drive way. It has about 8 1/2" of home made lift with 24" tires.

For a budget of 12 , I could make it happen and have money left over. As a side note : I do not tow with my cart

2k pounds is easliy doable for any good running cart electric or gas. Gas has obvs advantages, higher peak power and gas and go easiness. Electric is quiet and has 100% torque at 0 rpm. They are the low speed torque kings. But of course when they run out of juice you have a long wait for full charge...

I have a 6" lift on my club car and an HD spring in the rear because i knew i would be towing around the property. i has no probs. Ive towed 2500+ up samll inclines for over a couple miles without a prob. I sold my side by side. Golf cart is alot smaller and narrower for those tight spaces u were talking about,

Pulling 2,000lbs with a golf cart is the easy part. I pull a 4,000lb dump trailer with my '97 Workhorse when I have to move it around to service it. Stopping the weight is the issue. My cart has an electric trailer brake controller just for that reason because basically, the trailer needs to stop the buggy

He's right, stopping is definitely the issue. 2 rear drum brakes just can't do it. Add front brakes or just take it slow.

I honestly believe that the weight rating on golf carts, Workhorse 1200 is way off for actual pulling power. The rating has to be more of a safety issue. A 2,000lb trailer does not have that much tongue weight. The 4,000lb trailer I pull sometimes does have a 1,000lbs on the tongue and it does not make the steel behind the bumper look pretty, it will flex alot and look like it's gonna rip right off but it doesn't. It's now reinforced with added steel. I have tried to pull a 2,000lb trailer with a Yamaha work cart that is longer then a regular fleet cart and it will pop the front end right off the ground. As a matter of fact, half a load of dirt in the factory dump bed will do the same thing. Seems to me that the Ezgo is the most well balanced buggy to do heavy hauling with.
