Default Yamaha G9 Starter selenoid

I am esurrecting a G9 cart and notice the starter selenoid stays energized as long as the engine is running. I have several other devices (log splitter, lawn tractor) which uses a starter generator but these starter/generators are only switched on during "ignition"

What turns off the selenoid? or is the circuitry designed to deep the starter on?

There is a micro "stop" switch at the accelerator pedal. It is a "continuous duty" solenoid, needs to be energized to power the starter/generator.
