Ever heard of a Hester Ag Truk!
I was at my wife's grandparents farm and ran cross this time capsule. It's called a Hester Ag Cart. Couldn't really find anything about it. Here is a pic of the current state of the cart. The link is of an article from 1981 news paper covering a local Ag expo there is a better picture of the complete cart.

That is sweet! I think if you could put in an engine and most of the parts are there, try to get her running! That would be a cool project!

Re: Ever heard of a Hester Ag Truk!
What I think is neat about it is that it has a fwd/rev transmission that converts the driven clutch to a chain drive. Pretty sure it came with a 4-stroke around 200cc's so I'm thinking a Harbor Freight Predator 212cc engine would fit nicely. Really not interested in anything else but the transmission and rear end assembly. It already has the sprocket, mechanical disc brake, and the axel is about the same width as a golf cart, with the same bolt pattern. The primary clutch didn't have any name on it other than it stated not to exceed 7500 rpm and looked to be set up for 3/4" tappered shaft, I didn't see a slot for a keyway. I know the belt width was smaller than our carts, maybe an 1" or less.

Here are a few more pics. They are poor quality, it was dark with no flash. You may be able to zoom in to get a better look at the trans. Just like everything on the farm, it was used well past its servicable state, and by the looks of it I don't think there were many places to get parts.

A clever fore runner to today's turf trucks.
I would check some old mini bike forums for resources. |

Re: Ever heard of a Hester Ag Truk!
My Father has one of these running and driving. His seems to be a bit different though, his has a driveshaft connecting a gearbox (just for reverse?) to the rear end, no chain drives anywhere. It also has a bench seat and a dump bed, the front end looks close his just says HESTER on the name plate.
Not much info out there on them but it looks like someone here in California near Turlock made them during the late 70's. Let me know if you need pictures or details on how something is supposed to work if you want to get yours running. There are also a few locally here I have run accross and may be able to get my hands on if you need parts, I'm sure some things will interchange. Last edited by Zplats; 04-22-2013 at 07:29 PM..
