Default Cushman 735

I have a Cushman Sharknose 735 and am trying to figure out what year it is.
What is the best way to find out?
I may consider selling it and need to find out more information so that I can post more details.

Its in great shape but I don't know what its worth.

I've found that the Cushman model number contains the year of manufacture, if you can find it. The two digits following the dash in the number are the year of manufacture. So a Cushman 598454-8471 (not intended to be a real model number) would have been made in 1984. This full model number is only shown on the attached identification plate. On my Truckster, this aluminum plate is left and below the steering wheel. On your cart it may be somewhere else.

Cushman became part of Ezgo in about 2003. Ezgo now makes some models with the Cushman name on them, but parts for Cushman vehicles made before this merger can be very difficult to find. The new Cushmans sold today look more like Ezgo than the Cushman designs. Steering and drive train (engine, transmission, differential) parts that wear out can usually be found but new body/chassis parts seem to be non existent, unless some NOS shows up on Ebay or Craigslist. As far as your cart"s value goes it will depend more on it's condition and appearance than the year of manufacture. Do some Google searches for photos and information on the model number. Craigslist and Ebay searches may also give you an idea of it's value, but keep in mind that the asking price that you find is rarely what the cart finally sells for.

From looking at your cart's photos in your reply to the post by Stove Bolt your cart has an OMC motor. If the spark plugs are on the under side of the cylinders the motor is an 18 hp. If it has the spark plugs on the top of the cylinders the motor is a 22 hp. The 18 hp OMC motors were used in Cushman vehicles in the late 70's and very early 80's. Then they upgraded them to the 22 hp version and used these motors until the late 90's. Using this information will at least get you close in determining age. I'm not very familiar with golf cart body styles, but to me your cart has a 70's look.

I could be wrong, but my guess at this point is that it is a 1978 or 1979 and it has the spark plugs on the bottom of the cylinders, so it's got an 18 hp engine.

In answer to your other post about the roof, you will most likely need to have the fabric part custom made. The existing top may help the fabricator to act as a pattern for the new top. Price ???? You should get quotes from several places and decide for yourself which will do the best job at a fair price. A place that makes awnings and boat covers should be able to do this for you.

I hope all this helps you in identifying what you have.
