Re: electric fuel pump
I just bought the generic fuel pump that was available from O Riley Auto Parts for $74.95. It is intended to supply fuel for V8 engines and it's pressure is self regulating, but I have no idea what the output pressure is. When you add an electric fuel pump to your Cushman you can connect it directly between the fuel tank and the carburetor. There is no longer a need to have the bypass filter and bypass hose back to the tank, but it's a good idea to add a filter between the fuel tank and the new fuel pump. You can completely remove the old mechanical fuel pump from the motor if you make a metal plate and gasket to seal the hole. The electrical connections are simple, only two wires. Connect the black wire to a convenient frame connection. Connect the red wire to the wire running from the key switch to the coils.
My electric fuel pump was installed early last year and has been trouble free. Charley |
